At SF IndieFest (12 Feb 2012)

Come and join us at this FREE film and panel event with filmmaker Serge Bakalian, Kyle McCarthy of Occupy Student Debt (and DEFAULT) and Lauren Asher, Executive Director of The Institute for College Access & Success. All three on the panel are in the new article, "10 Leaders Who Are Fighting for Student Loan Reform" (http://www.onlinecollege.org/10-leaders-who-are-fighting-for-student-loa...)

In the aftermath of the mortgage bubble"s burst, one industry shows the same ominous symptoms of an imminent crisis: student loans borrowing. Filmmakers Serge Bakalian and Aurora Meneghello tackled the issue even before it made national news and started chronicling the stories of student borrowers and activists. Their film, Default, is not only a document to these people"s financial and emotional struggle, it is also a call for action directed toward future students and government officials. After garnering the interest of the national press and being featured on Forbes, the Nation, the Washington Post, Democracy Now and The Huffington Post among, the film's crew has teamed up with the Occupy protest and is planning a national tour to create awareness and urge more and more people to join the movement.
